NORTON, Mass. - Unable to find its groove, the Wheaton College men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday.
In doubles, senior David Gassen and first-year Jeremiah Ryser fell 8-5 in the No.1 spot against Mark Guentert and Weston Fortna of the Bears. Senior Will White and junior Alden Zeff battled it out in the No. 2 spot, but fell short 8-6 as senior Shreve Archer and sophomore Tyler Butler closed out doubles play in the No. 3 spot, dropping 8-3.
Gassen continued on to open singles play for Wheaton in the No. 1 spot where he competed against Guentert and dropped a 6-1, 6-2 final mark. The Lyons were unable to claim a set for the remainder of the match as the Bears took the final 9-0 decision.
Wheaton travels to Colby-Sawyer on Sunday with action slated to start at 1 p.m.
