NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's tennis competed in their home opener of the 2016-17 season against the Endicott College Gulls, but fell, 8-1, at the Clark Tennis Courts Wednesday evening.
The Gulls swept the Lyons in the singles competition where Endicott registered a 2-6, 6-2, 10-4 final in the No. 1 spot and a 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 win at No. 2.
In doubles, sophomore Jeremiah Ryser and first-year Jorge Aguirre Martinez notched the lone victory for Wheaton when they tallied an 8-6 final mark. The Gulls went on to record an 8-2 win at No. 2 and an 8-3 win at No. 3 in doubles to seal the match victory.
The Lyons travel to Colby-Sawyer College on Monday with match time set for 2:30 p.m.
