MEDFORD, Mass. – The Wheaton College women's swimming & diving team fell 194-149 against Tufts University on Saturday in the dual matchup.
Wheaton's 200-yard medley relay team started the meet with a third place finish with Kelley Baylis, Rowan Rice, Courtney Leach and Jenna Hayden at 1:54.72.
Hayden went on to secure second place finishes in the 100 and 200-yard backstrokes by clocking in at 1:03.57 and 2:18.88. Rebecca Idman registered her own third place finish during the 50-yard butterfly when she tapped in at 28.91.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Kelsey Meyer and Leach claimed spots two and three by finishing with 26.10 and 26.16 final times. Baylis dished out a first place victory for the Lyons in the 50-yard back stroke when she timed in at 29.71. Rice went on to lead the way for Wheaton in the 200-yard breaststroke with a third place spot with a final time of 2:38.76. Then battling it out in the 50-yard breaststroke, Tayla Slater listed a third place finish when she wrapped up the race at 34.89.
Wheaton registered the top three finishes for the 500-yard freestyle race with Claire Bollman (5:42.99) in first, Allison Mosier (5:56.78) in second and Amanda Welch (6:08.10) in third. The Lyons didn't stop there as they went on to mark the top three places again, this time in the 100-yard butterfly with Leach in first (1:03.99), Meyer (1:08.06) in second and Rice (1:08.37) in third.
During the 400-yard individual medley, Molly Gibson tallied a first place finish at 5:07.42. She was followed by Idman in second at 5:13.54 and Joanna Zak in third at 5:20.71. Hayden, Emily Reynolds and Catie Ebsary followed took their drive into the 100-yard individual medley where they also grabbed the first three spots with finals of 1:05.51, 1:08.38 and 1:08.47.
On the diving side, Katherine Conway recorded a second-place finish in the one-meter with a final score of 225.38. She went on to collect third place in the three-meter with a 211.65 final. Tori Popstein tallied a 188.10 final score in the one-meter for a fourth place finish. She also wrapped up the meet in fourth during the three-meter with a 189.10 final.
Wheaton hosts Trinity (Conn.) on Friday with action set to begin at 7 p.m.
