Archer collects two wins in the loss
NORTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College men's tennis team fell to Clark University, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at the Clark Tennis Courts in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup.
Sophomore Shreve Archer (Pebble Beach, Calif./Stevenson School) picked up two wins on the afternoon for the Lyons as he teamed up with senior co-captain Ned Terrace (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) for an 8-2 decision at No. 3 doubles and also turned in a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 triumph at No. 3 singles.
Senior Sam Jackson (Darien, Conn./Darien) rounded out the list of winners for Wheaton with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles.
In No. 1 doubles, senior co-captain Dan Sharon (Santa Monica, Calif./Brentwood School) and sophomore Will White (Nantucket, Mass./Cape Cod Academy) lost a close 9-8 (7-5) match.
Wheaton (9-7, 3-3 NEWMAC) and Clark ( 12-7, 3-3 NEWMAC) both await their seeding in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament.
