Box Score Colby Shields and Ryan Gjerset combine for three goals and three assists in the loss
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team fell to Clark University, 6-5, in overtime on Friday evening in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.
The Cougars forced an extra session with a goal by freshman Nick Johnson (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional), who wrapped around the Lyons' cage and scored the equalizer with eight seconds remaining in regulation. Freshman John Goracy (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) sealed the win for Clark by racing toward the crease from the far sidelines and netting the game-winner with 11 seconds left in overtime.

Ryan Gjerset (Austin, Texas/St. Michael's Catholic Academy) combined for three goals and three assists, while sophomore
Kyle Rumberger (Hyannis, Mass/Barnstable) and freshman
Eric Jansen (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) netted one goal, respectively.
Gorcay led Clark with a hat trick and Johnson finished with two tallies. Senior Jonah Bass (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regiona) scored one goal, which was recorded at 11:04 in the second quarter.

Harrison Bramhall (Barrington, R.I./Trinity Pawling) turned away 10 of 16 shots, while Clark senior
Kevin Ranta (Beverley, Mass./Bevelery) deflected 11 shots.
The Cougars outshot the Lyons, 37-28, and won nine face-offs. Freshman
Kyle Neale (Brooklyn, N.Y./Saint James School) claimed a career and season-best five face-off wins and matched sophomore
Liam Williams (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) with five ground balls. Wheaton scooped 34 ground balls, while Clark collected a game-high 35 ground balls.
Wheaton converted 17 of 24 clears and Clark finished 19 of 24.
Jansen provided the Lyons with an early lead before Clark answered with three consecutive tallies spanning the second and third quarters to secure a 3-1 advantage.
Wheaton responded with three consecutive tallies, including Shields' first strike, a man-up goal at 1:39 in the third, which gave the Lyons a 4-3 lead heading into the final session.
Johnson evened the score at 4:52 before Shields pushed Wheaton ahead with 1:04 remaining.
Both Clark and Wheaton return to action on Wednesday, April 16 when the Lyons travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy for a 7 p.m. face-off, while the Cougars host Babson College for a 7 p.m. start.
