Schulz Named to Play in NEILA Men's Lacrosse Senior All-Star Game

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Wheaton College (Mass.) men's lacrosse player John Schulz (West Hartford, Conn.) was selected to play in the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Senior All-Star Game, it was announced by the NEILA.

The game is composed of NCAA Division I, II and III players and will be played Friday, June 5 at 7:00 PM at Jessee/Miller Field at Tansill Muldoon Stadium on the campus of Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.

All players and coaches were nominated by the head coaches within the NEILA.  Players were then ranked and selected by a committee, awarding seniors from all three NCAA Divisions who played their college career in the New England region. This all-star game is the only one of its kind, being a regional all-star game which includes players from Divisions I, II, and III.

Schulz' selection marks the fifth straight year that a Lyon has been chosen to play in the All-Star contest.

The senior started all 15 games for Wheaton as a long stick midfielder and picked up 12 ground balls to go with seven caused turnovers, which ranked fourth on the team. The Business and Management major helped the Lyons maintain a 9.67 goals against mark to place second in the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference. Schulz picked up at least one ground ball in eight straight games from February 21 to March 21.

The Conard High School graduate has played in 57 career games, while starting 45 of them. He earned the starting nod in 43 of the last 46 contests for Wheaton. In addition, Schulz tallied 46 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers for the Lyons.

Wheaton concluded the season with a 9-6 overall record, including 2-5 in NEWMAC play.
