Lyons sweep doubles, drop just five sets
PLANT CITY, Fla. – The Wheaton College men's tennis team concluded its spring break trip with an 8-1 victory over Alfred University on Wednesday evening at Hillsborough Community College.
The Lyons opened up the action by sweeping doubles play dropping just three sets in the process. Senior co-captain Dan Sharon (Santa Monica, Calif./Brentwood School) and sophomore Jonah Feit (Los Angeles, Calif./Milken Community) ousted their competition at No. 1 by an 8-1 score. Classmate Will White (Nantucket, Mass./Cape Cod Academy) and senior co-captain Ned Terrace (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) turned in an 8-3 decision at No. 2 and junior Lawrence Chan (Lincoln, R.I./Wheeler School) and freshman Alden Zeff (Stratham, N.H./St. Stephen's Episcopal School) rounded out doubles action with an 8-1 triumph.
Wheaton went on to claim victories at No. 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 singles as Feit posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 1 and White defeated his opponent, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 to highlight singles play.
The Lyons (3-2) return to action on Tuesday, March 18 at home against Salem State University at 4 p.m.
