Box Score Wolters makes seven saves in loss
GORHAM, Maine – The Wheaton College field hockey team fell to Southern Maine, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field on day two of the Southern Maine Invitational.
Huskies' junior forward Peyton Dostie (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) registered one goal and dished out two assists to pilot the offense. Senior forward Natalie Harkins (Windham, Maine/Windham) and classmate Rebecca Pratt (Cornville, Maine/Skowhegan) added one goal each.
Wheaton junior goalkeeper Madison Wolters (Marstons Mills, Mass./Barnstable) turned away seven shots for the Lyons in net. Southern Maine freshman goalkeeper Amanda Kasbohm (York, Maine/York) made one save in the win in 54:32 of action. Backup senior goalkeeper Kayla Kennedy (Windham, Maine/Windham) did not see a shot in net playing for 15:28.
Southern Maine got on the scoreboard just 4:45 into the action as Dostie set up Natalie Harkins (Windham, Maine/Windham) for her first goal of the season. Pratt made it 2-0 at the 30:12 mark off of a penalty corner feed from Dostie, her second assist of the afternoon.
Dostie added her team-leading second goal of the season at 45:33 to cap the scoring. Senior Cristina Mountain (Dexter, Maine/Dexter Regional) set up the tally, her first assist this fall.
Wheaton (1-1, 0-0 NEWMAC) returns to action on Tuesday, September 3 on the road against Anna Maria at 6 p.m. Southern Maine (2-0) hosts Gordon on Thursday, September 5 at 4 pm.
