CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Senior Kristen DiBella (Boston, Mass.) won the 400-meter hurdles and classmate Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.) placed first in the 100 meters to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team at the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Sherie and Don Morriston Track in Cambridge, Mass.
DiBella's time of 1:05.01 was the seventh-fastest in school history. Loriston turned in a mark of 11.89.
The Lyons saw five top-10 program-best times recorded, while 10 personal-best marks were established during the meet.
First year Paige Edwards (Brooklyn N.Y.) placed ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.68, while senior Wendy Wooden (Sharon, Mass.) was sixth in the 100 meters with a mark of 12.52.
Wheaton placed second in the 4X100-meter relay behind junior Maya Thomas (Goffstown, N.H.), Wooden, junior Camille Connors (Woburn, Mass.) and senior Kate Wickenheisser (Oxford, Conn.), who combined on a time of 48.26.
Junior Anella Bolster (Marcellus, N.Y.) posted the seventh-best mark in program history to place fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.41 meters, while sophomore Reilly Hickey (Medford, Mass.) was 16th in the event with a distance of 4.95 meters. Connors finished sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.26 and Wickenheisser recorded a personal-record time of 26.69 to finish eighth in the race. Bolster registered her second personal-record effort of the day with a time of 27.43 to place 15th in the event.
Senior Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) posted the second-fastest time in program annals in the 5000 meters in the "Distance Night" portion of the meet from the previous evening with a time of 17:55.61 to finish 12th overall and sixth among Division III runners. Sophomore Abby Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass.) finished fifth in the Saturday running of the 5000 meters with a time of 18:49.33, which ranks as the ninth-fastest in school history.
Junior Lauren Hinckley (Niantic, Conn.) placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.69 and sophomore Eva Garofano (Barrington, R.I.) finished seventh in the discus throw with a distance of 35.62 meters for the ninth-best toss in school history. Senior Anika Wagner (Elmore, Vt.) recorded a throw of 27.70 meters to place 16th in the event. Garofano also finished 12th in the hammer throw with a toss of 33.41 meters. Junior Annie Reagan (Scarborough, Maine) led the Lyons in the shot put with a heave of 9.50 meters to finish 12th and first year Molly Gleason (Marstons Mills, Mass.) topped Wheaton in the javelin throw with a mark of 26.32 to finish 15th.
Junior Jessie Dickson (Southbury, Conn.) led the Lyons in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.77 to finish ninth, while Thomas was 12th with a clip of 1:02.10. Junior Natalie Shaw (Belchertown, Mass.) finished 14th with a personal-record time of 1:03.33. Sophomore Maggie Cizmar (Plymouth, Mass.) registered a personal-best mark of 2:32.23 to finish 16th in the 800 meters and senior Abby Martin (Keene, N.H.) also posted a personal-record time of 2:34.64 to place 19th in the event. First year Sophia Woodcock (Warrington, Pa.) was Wheaton's best in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:41.05 to finish 39th.
The Lyons return to the track on Friday, April 24 when they travel to New London, Conn. to compete in the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference meet, hosted by United States Coast Guard Academy.
