MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — The Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field's 4X100-meter relay team of seniors Wendy Wooden (Sharon, Mass.) and senior Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.), junior Camille Connors (Woburn, Mass.) and senior Kate Wickenheisser (Oxford, Mass.) was named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Women's Track Relay of the Week for the week of April 6-12, it was announced today by the conference.
The award marks the second straight week that the quartet has been lauded by the conference. Loriston has now been recognized for a weekly honor by the NEWMAC seven times after being named to a NEWMAC Weekly Relay team four times as a sophomore and once last season. Wooden has now been honored four times after being recognized twice as a sophomore and once last year.
Wooden, Loriston, Connors and Wickenheisser won the Tufts Spring Invitational with a mark of 47.37. The mark is second in the NEWMAC this season, only to their own time posted last weekend and is the 18th-fastest in all of NCAA Division III.
This same unit earned a win for the Lyons on April 6 with a time of 46.76 to capture the 4X100-meter relay at the Emory Dooley Elite Meet hosted by Emory University at Woodruff PE Center Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. That time currently stands as the eighth-fastest in the nation.
Wheaton returns to the track on Friday, April 17 when it travels to Bridgewater, Mass. to compete in the BSU Bears Invitational.
