Chamberlin Named NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — Wheaton College (Mass.) women's lacrosse player Jessica Chamberlin (Bow, N.H.) was named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week for the week of March 16-22, it was announced today by the NEWMAC.

In two games, the senior tallied 13 points, including 11 goals on just 13 shots for a remarkable 84.6% shooting percentage. The attacker also added two assists to go with a ground ball and a pair of draw controls. Chamberlin was extremely consistent, with at least five goals in both games. She began the week with five markers, two assists, a ground ball, and a caused turnover in the Lyons' 15-10 win at Emmanuel College on March 18. The Bow High School product capped the week with six goals on seven shots and won a draw control in Wheaton's 14-10 road win on March 21 against Salve Regina University.

Chamberlin has been among the top offensive players all season for the NEWMAC and currently ranks fourth among league foes with 3.88 goals per game with 31 markers in eight contests. The four-year standout places fifth in the conference with 5.25 points per game and stands 10th with 1.38 assists per contest. The Granite State native has been incredibly accurate with her shot this season, ranking 29th in the nation with a 64.1% success rate, while placing sixth among nation's leaders with an 85.7% shot percentage in free position opportunities. Despite being on everyone's scouting report, the Tri-Captain has been the epitome of dependable, scoring at least one goal in every game, including multiple scores in all but two outings. She began the season by netting a career-high eight goals on February 18 at Bridgewater State University for the seventh-most in program history. Chamberlin has started all eight matches for the Lyons, while matching her career high with 16 ground balls to go with 10 draw controls and four caused turnovers. She notched her 100th career point on March 12 vs. Vassar College.

For her career, the Political Science major has played in 61 contests, while making 41 starts. She has 72 goals and 47 assists for 119 points and currently ranks seventh on Wheaton's all-time list for career assists. In addition, Chamberlin has registered 92 draw controls, 54 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers and six game-winning scores. 

The Lyons are currently 6-2 on the season, including 1-1 in NEWMAC play and will be in action again on Wednesday, March 25 when they head to Northampton, Mass. to take on NEWMAC rival Smith College at 6:00 p.m.
