MEDFORD/BOSTON, Mass. — Senior Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) placed fourth in the 5000 meters to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team on a day in which it competed at the Cupid Challenge hosted at Tufts University's Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center in Medford, Mass. as well as the at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Mass.
Vanderhoof turned in a time of 18:01.00 at Tufts. Sophomore Chloe Vescio (Douglas, Mass.) finished 22nd in the race with a time of 19:40.79 for the Lyons. Sophomore Abby Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass.) also did well for Wheaton's distance runners with a sixth-place finish in the 1000 meters with a personal-record mark of 3:14.10, while senior Abby Martin (Keene, N.H.) recorded a personal-best time of 3:20.35 to finish 14th in the event. First year Sophia Woodcock (Warrington, Pa.) was 17th in the race with a time of 3:30.21.
Senior Kristen DiBella (Boston, Mass.) clocked in with a personal-record time of 2:23.07 in the 800 meters to place 51st among Division III runners and 160th overall at Boston University. Junior Camille Connors (Woburn, Mass.) finished 35th among Division III competitors and was 62nd overall with a time of 26.43 in the 200 meters. The Lyons' 4X400-meter relay team of junior Jessie Dickson (Southbury, Conn.), DiBella, junior Maya Thomas (Goffstown, N.H.) and first year Adeline Takantjas (Belmont, N.H.) combined to post a time of 4:06.65 to finish 16th against DIII foes and 30th overall.
Wheaton junior Anella Bolster (Marcellus, N.Y.) registered a personal-record leap of 5.29 meters to finish seventh in the long jump at Tufts, while first year Karina Contreras (Pawtucket, R.I.) was 16th in the event with a personal-best mark of 4.85 meters. First year Paige Edwards (Brooklyn, N.Y.) placed ninth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:05.06 and junior Natalie Shaw (Belchertown, Mass.) was 15th with a 1:06.75 effort in the race.
Sophomore Reilly Hickey (Medford, Mass.) placed 11th in the pentathlon with the 10th-highest score in school history at 2530 points for the Lyons. She finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.69 and was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 4.81 meters. She finished 10th in the 800 meters behind a time of 2:43.29 and was 11th in the shot put with a heave of 8.21 meters. Hickey finished 15th in the high jump with a mark of 1.19 meters.
First year Carly Satterfield (Bowdoinham, Maine) finished 12th in both the pole vault and the shot put. Her vault of 2.87 meters was a personal record to go with a heave of 10.84 meters in the shot put for Wheaton. Junior Annie Reagan (Scarborough, Maine) finished 25th in the shot put with a mark of 9.03 meters. First year Kylee Murray (Old Town, Maine) was seventh in the open shot put with a personal-record heave of 9.86 meters. Junior Lauren Hinckley (Niantic, Conn.) placed 14th in the triple jump with a distance of 10.40 meters and sophomore Eva Garofano (Barrington, R.I.) finished 25th in the weight throw with a toss of 11.79 meters.
Junior Anna Butrimas (Berlin, Conn.) placed 25th in the 800 meters with a mark of 2:48.49 and classmate Annabelle Sanders (Miami, Fla.) was 30th with a time of 2:55.98. First year Ellie Gilman (Brunswick, Maine) finished 26th in the 3000 meters with a personal-record mark of 11:20.96 and sophomore Maggie Cizmar (Plymouth, Mass.) placed 27th with a time of 5:52.15 in the mile for the Lyons.
Wheaton returns to the track on Saturday, February 21 when it hosts the Wheaton Post-Season Qualifier at 3:00 p.m. at Beard Field House.
