Rhatigan Named NEWMAC Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Wheaton College (Mass.) men's soccer player Declan Rhatigan (Holderness, N.H.) was named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for the week of August 25-31, it was announced today by the league.

In the Lyons' only match of the week, Rhatigan tallied three goals in a 4-0 victory at host Saint Joseph's College (Mass.) on August 29 in Standish, Maine. The forward became the first player in school history to record a hat trick in the season opening contest. In addition, the junior is quite possibly the tallest player at six-feet, five-inches tall to register a three-goal outing in program history.

Rhatigan has seen action in 22 career matches, while making seven starts for Wheaton. The Holderness School product has tallied 11 points, including five goals and an assist.

The Lyons are currently 1-0-0 on the season and are in action again this afternoon in Williamstown, Mass. when they take on No. 10 Williams College at 4:00 p.m.
