Bandrup Named NEWMAC Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Wheaton College (Mass.) women's soccer player Patricia Bandrup (Powway, Calif.) was named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week of August 25-31, it was announced today by the league.

Bandrup earns the defensive honor for the fourth time in her career after being tabbed once during the each of the 2022, 2023 and 2024 campaigns. Her career weekly award total is the most for a defensive player since Leann Wolf '18 also garnered four weekly accolades (October 26, 2015, September 19 & October 24, 2016 and October 16, 2017).

Bandrup was outstanding in the Lyons' only match of the week, recording nine saves in a 2-0 victory over visiting Regis College (Mass.) on August 31. The blank sheet was the senior's 10th for her career.

Bandrup was among the best keepers in the region last year and was given a Second Team All-Region II nod by the United Soccer Coaches in 2024. The Poway High School graduate was also named First Team All-Conference by the NEWMAC. For her career, the Economics and Italian double major has established herself as one of the greatest goalies in school history, standing third with 366 saves and seventh in career minutes played at 4403:38. The West Coast native has played in 50 matches during her career at Wheaton and ranks both 10th all time in shutouts and victories (17) at the Norton school. Bandrup has improved her save percentage every season and boasts a career save mark of .838 to place ninth in program history to go with a 1.45 goals against average.
