Five From Women's Tennis Named ITA Scholar Athletes

GILBERT, Ariz. – Wheaton College (Mass.) women's tennis players, Haylee Doiron (Lowell, Mass.), Kara Greenlee (San Antonio, Texas), Laila Haraj-Sai (Madison, Conn.), Alissa Ortiz (El Paso, Texas) and Taylor Wilson (Dover, N.H.) were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes in addition to the Lyons being tabbed an All-Academic Team by the ITA.

All student-athletes earning Scholar-Athlete recognition must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. The five honorees for Wheaton match the program's total from a year ago, which was the most for the program since 2014.

To earn All-Academic Team status, all programs must attain a cumulative team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), which must include all varsity letter winners on the roster.

The Lyons recorded an impressive 3.45 team GPA for the 2024-25 academic year.

Greenlee and Ortiz earn ITA Academic recognition for the third straight year, while Doiron and Wilson are honored for the second time.

Doiron is a junior Biology major and was also named to the ITA squad as a first year. The Burlington High School product saw action in five singles matches for the Lyons and posted a 1-2 record in doubles play.

Greenlee is a junior Neuroscience major. The Ronald Reagan High School graduate posted a 4-13 record at number one singles and 6-11 at the top spot in doubles play.

Haraj-Sai earns a spot on the team for the first time. The sophomore Business and Management major played exclusively at number two singles for Wheaton, owning a 6-15 overall mark and was 8-12 in doubles action as well from the number two position. Three of her doubles wins helped contribute to winning the C Draw at the New England Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament.

Ortiz is a junior Chemistry major. She is also a graduate of Ronald Reagan High School and was 4-11 in singles play at number three to go with a  6-11 mark in doubles with Greenlee.

Wilson is a sophomore Business Finance major. The Dover High School grad led Wheaton in victories with an 8-6 mark in singles play, including 7-4 at fifth singles, and recorded a 9-7 doubles mark to combine for a team-high 17 wins.

The Lyons finished with a 6-12 overall record, including 3-5 in league action. Wheaton advanced to the NEWMAC Tournament, before bowing out in the opening round.
