WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Senior Kelvin Peterson (Eliot, Maine) won both the 100 and 200 meters in a span of two hours to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) men's track & field team this afternoon at the Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza at Weston Athletic Complex on the campus of host Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
Peterson finished just a hundredth of a second shy of his own school record in the 200 meters with a mark of 21.39. He also turned in a time of 10.73 in the 100 meters.
Junior Kai Hillier (Hinesburg, Vt.) broke his own school record with a time of 3:53.61 to place 11th in the 1500 meters for the Lyons.
First year Scott Sloan (Barrington, R.I.) won the javelin throw for Wheaton with a toss of 60.67 meters to lead Wheaton's field competitors.
Senior Jordan Pinnix (Manchester, Conn.) finished second with a time of 14.55 in the 100 hurdles for the Lyons, while first year Gavin Landry (Westbrook, Maine) clocked in at 15.44 to place sixth.
Senior John Dowgiert (Methuen, Mass.) placed 22nd in the 400 meters with a time of 50.72 and was 21st in the 200 meters with a clip of 22.50. First year Travis C. James (Hamden, Conn.) turned in a time of 22.89 to finish 26th for Wheaton.
The Lyons return to action on Thursday, May 15 when they compete at the Last Chance Meet at host University of Massachusetts Amherst at 2:00 pm. in Amherst, Mass.
