WESTFIELD, Mass. — Sophomore Logan Quinn (Portsmouth, R.I.) placed second in the hammer throw with the fourth-best mark in school history to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) men's track & field team at the Jerry Gravel Invitational hosted by Westfield State University at the Jerry Gravel Track in Westfield, Mass.
Quinn recorded a toss of 40.56 meters to improve on his own fourth-best distance in the hammer throw for the Lyons. First year Kieran Templeton (Glens Falls, N.Y.) posted a throw of 32.33 in the event to finish fourth and rank as the ninth-best in program history.
Wheaton junior Griffen Copp (Littleton, Mass.) placed fifth in both the discus throw and the shot put. His throw of 37.97 meters in the discus is the fourth-best mark in school annals. He also registered a heave of 12.21 meters in the shot put.
Quinn was 10th in the shot put with a heave of 10.62 meters and 13th in the discus throw with a distance of 27.14 meters. Templeton placed 12th in the discus with a personal-record throw of 28.60 meters and turned in a mark of 9.91 meters to finish 14th in the shot put for the Lyons.
Wheaton returns to the track on Friday, April 18 when it travels to Atlanta, Ga. to compete in the Georgia Tech Invitational.
