MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Wheaton College (Mass.) seniors Ty Murphy (Dedham, Mass.), Tarmo Tari (Chelmsford, Mass.), Khaled Thaher (Amman, Jordan), juniors Tristan Herry (East Taunton, Mass.), Eoin Morrissey (Watertown, Mass.), Chris Billone (Windham, N.H.) and sophomore Mohammad Nasereddin (Amman, Jordan) were named to the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Academic All-Conference Team, it was announced by the league.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2024 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Tari and Thaher were both named for the third consecutive year, while Murphy, Herry and Morrissey each earn the honor for the second straight season.
Tari was coming off an injury, but still managed to see time in 12 contests for the Lyons. The senior Marketing major averaged 1.0 points and 1.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 41.7% (5-12) from the floor. Thaher is a senior Business and Management major at Wheaton. The forward started 14 of 25 games and scored 4.9 points per game to go with 5.2 rebounds per outing, while shooting 70.5% (31-44) from the free throw line. Murphy was also coming off an injury in his senior campaign for the Lyons. The Business Finance major saw action in 12 games, while making a pair of starts and averaged 4.6 points and knocked down 14 three-pointers to finish his career with 147 long-distance makes to rank eighth all-time at Wheaton.
Herry enjoyed a career year, averaging 14.0 points to rank 10th among NEWMAC leaders, while shooting 80.4% (82-102) from the free throw line. The junior Business Management major pulled down 3.0 rebounds and handed out 2.4 assists per game, while starting all 25 games for the Lyons. Morrissey was among the best rebounders in the league with 6.8 boards per game to place fifth on the conference leaderboard, while scoring 12.2 points. The junior Nursing major started 24 of 25 games and knocked down a career-high 27 three-pointers.
Billone earned a start and played in 12 games for Wheaton. The junior Business Management major averaged 1.2 points and shot a gaudy 83.3% (5-6) from the free throw line. Nasereddin saw action in 13 contests, while making a start. The sophomore Business and Management major made the most of his opportunities, including a career-high 10 points vs. Massachusetts Institute of Technology during the season and averaged 1.9 points and 2.0 rebounds.
Wheaton finished the season with an 11-14 overall record, including 6-10 in league play.
