BOSTON, Mass. — Senior Jordan Pinnix (Manchester, Conn.) placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) men's track & field team at the New England Division III Indoor Regional Championship today at The Track at New Balance in Boston, Mass.
The Lyons scored five points for the meet to place 26th overall, while Amherst College tallied 109 points to finish first.
Pinnix posted a time of 8.23 for Wheaton, which was just one-hundredth of a second off his school-record time from the day before.
Junior Kai Hillier (Hinesburg, Vt.) finished ninth in the mile with a personal-record time of 4:18.10 for the Lyons to cement the second-fastest time in school history in the event.
Wheaton first year Gael Vera (Westminster, Mass.) recorded a height of 1.85 meters to place 13th in the high jump, before placing 24th in the 200 meters with a mark of 22.310. Senior Kelvin Peterson (Eliot, Maine) led the Lyons in the 200 meters with a time of 21.96 to place 13th.
Senior John Dowgiert (Methuen, Mass.) finished 43rd in the 400 meters with a time of 52.03 for Wheaton. The Lyons placed 20th in the 4X400-meter relay to close the men's meet. Seniors Ryan Ventura (South Easton, Mass.) and Zac Elmasri (Groton, Mass.) preceded junior Aris Giatrakos (Stoughton, Mass.), before senior Will Singer (Los Angeles, Calif.) ran the anchor to complete a time of 3:29.09 for Wheaton.
The Lyons return to the track on Saturday, March 8 when they travel to Medford, Mass. to compete in the Indoor National Qualifier meet at host Tufts University.
