HOPKINTON, N.H. – Senior Nick Lacroix (Bedford, N.H.) placed 14th among Division III harriers and was one of four Wheaton College (Mass.) men's cross country runners to register personal-record times this afternoon at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championship hosted at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H.
The Lyons totaled 706 points to place 23rd overall and fifth among Division III schools, while University of Rhode Island tallied 60 points to claim the team title. University of Massachusetts Amherst junior Collin Catherwood (Central Valley, N.Y.) clocked in at 23:57.82 to finish first among individuals. Tufts University scored 207 points to finish ninth as a team and first among Division III institutions, while Bowdoin College junior Seamus McDonough (Homer, Alaska) registered a time of 24.33.64 to finish ahead of the Division III field.
Lacroix's time of 26:38.14 supplanted his previous best by five seconds and was good enough for 131st overall to lead Wheaton. Senior Parker Fullem (Wantage, N.J.) clipped 10 seconds off his personal best with a mark of 28:26.65 to finish 219th, while sophomore Finn Morris (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was right behind at 23:30.38 to place 222nd and shave 31 seconds off his personal-record time.
Sophomore Dan McIntyre (Keene, N.H.) pulled up at 29:07.42 to finish 239th for the Lyons. First year Will Doyle (Milton, Mass.) became the fourth Wheaton runner to establish a personal-record mark with a time of 29:27.00 in 243rd place, while classmate Thomas Sargent (Bow, N.H.) turned in a time of 30:29.49 to finish 250th overall.
The Lyons return to action on Saturday, October 18 when it heads to Waterford, Conn. to compete in the Connecticut College XC Invitational at Harkness Park at 10:00 a.m.
