MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — Wheaton College (Mass.) women's lacrosse players Jessica Chamberlin (Bow, N.H.), Katie Hallee (Norway, Maine) and Georgia Qua (Suffield, Conn.) earned New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Second Team All-Conference honors, it was announced by the NEWMAC.
Hallee earns Second Team honors for the second consecutive year, while Chamberlin and Qua are first time honorees.
Chamberlin turned in a career season as one of the most prolific point-scorers in the conference with 73 points to rank sixth among NEWMAC leaders, while also standing fifth with 53 goals and ninth with 20 assists. The senior's point total is the highest for a Lyon since Molly Covarrubias '19 tallied 87 points in 2019. Chamberlin was nearly automatic when she chose to go to goal, connecting on 62.4% of her shots to place 10th in NCAA Division III. The Bow High School graduate started all 17 contests for Wheaton and was incredibly reliable with at least one goal in every game. The attacker netted multiple goals on 12 occasions, including six outings with four or more scores. Chamberlin set the tone for her campaign right away with eight goals and an assist to give her a career-high nine points in the season opener at Bridgewater State University on February 18. Her goal total in the match marked the seventh-highest figure in school history. The conference took notice of the Political Science major throughout the season, lauding her with Offensive Player of the Week honors twice. She enjoyed a five-game stretch from March 7-21, where she netted 19 goals and added six assists, while shooting a remarkable 70.3%. Chamberlin's shooting prowess was extremely consistent as evidenced by converting on 50% or higher of her shots in 14 of 17 games. The Granite State native nearly infallible on free position opportunities, making good on eight of 11 attempts. She also added 30 ground balls, 13 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers.
In four years, Chamberlin started 50 of 70 games and finished with 150 points on 94 goals and 56 assists to place sixth on the Lyons' career assist list. She also added 95 draw controls, 68 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers.
Halle has established herself as one of the best defenders in the league, ranking fourth on the team with 14 caused turnovers and fifth with 27 ground balls. The senior helped ignite Wheaton's offensive effort with a team-high 63 draw controls to place her eighth among NEWMAC leaders and contribute to a Lyon effort to rank third as a team in the league. The xx major won a career-high 10 draw controls and added a ground ball and three caused turnovers at Wellesley College on April 1 and recorded seven or more draw controls on four occasions. A graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, Hallee notched multiple ground balls in games, while registering at least one caused turnover in nine contests. The four-year standout tallied the first two goals of her career at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on February 28 in addition to picking up a pair of ground balls, causing a turnover and winning three draw controls.
For her career, Hallee has started 47 of 58 contests, while compiling 77 ground balls, 28 caused turnovers and 72 draw controls.
Qua also posted a breakout effort, doubling her point total from the previous year to end with 68 points on 51 goals and 17 assists. The junior ranked sixth in the conference in goals and ninth in points. The attacker added 17 assists in 18 games, while making 17 starts. Qua notched at least one point in every game during the season and began the year with a dominant stretch of 17 goals and four assists in the team's first four games from February 18 to March 7. The attacker carried Wheaton's offense a number of times, racking up five or more points seven times during the campaign, including back-to-back showings with eight points in victories against both Clark University and Wellesley College on March 28 and April 1. The Suffield High School product registered at least one ground ball in all but three contests and finished with 26 for the year, while adding 13 draw controls and eight caused turnovers.
A Sociology major, Qua has started 18 of 50 career matches, while netting 86 goals to go with 24 assists for 110 points. The Nutmeg State resident also has 45 lifetime ground balls, 15 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers.
