CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — First year Josy Wright (Sharon, Mass.) topped the field in the 400 meters to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) men's track & field team at the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Sherie and Don Morriston Track in Cambridge, Mass.
Wright posted a time of 48.99 to rank as the eighth-fastest mark in school history. Sophomore Aidan Greenleaf (Topsham, Maine) finished seventh in the race with a time of 50.01 for the Lyons, while senior Dante Marciano (Bristol, Conn.) placed 20th with a clip of 54.56.
Wheaton's 4X100-meter relay unit placed second at the meet with a time of 42.53 behind first year Tyler Lamonde (Swansea, Mass.), Greenleaf, first year David Kadiri (Dracut, Mass.) and junior Kevin Smith (Norfolk, Mass.).
Sophomore Gavin Landry (Sebago, Maine) turned in the seventh-fastest time in program history for the 110-meter hurdles to place second in the race, while Smith was eighth in the race with a time of 15.66. Sophomore Joshua Wright (Gorham, Maine) finished 17th with a time of 16.17 and first year Liam Reagan (Scarborough, Maine) was 19th with a personal-best time of 17.12. Joshua Wright also placed 10th to lead the Lyons in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 59.46 and Reagan was 12th with a mark of 1:00.06. Junior Andrew Fortin (South Dartmouth, Mass.) turned in a time of 1:01.37 to finish 14th in the event. Kadiri registered a personal-record time of 22.19 to finish third in the 200 meters for Wheaton. Lamonde placed eighth in the 100 meters for the Lyons with a clip of 11.05. Senior Kai Hillier (Hinesburg, Vt.) clocked in at 3:56.00 during the "Distance Night" portion of the meet the evening before to place 19th overall and seventh among Division III runners in the 1500 meters. Senior Nick Lacroix (Bedford, N.H.) finished 12th in the event that was held on Saturday with a personal-record mark of 4:12.55.
Junior Cam Cross (Newport, R.I.) led Wheaton's field athletes with a toss of 43.79 meters to place fifth in the javelin throw. Junior Logan Quinn (Portsmouth, R.I.) finished ninth in the hammer throw with a distance of 40.76 meters, while sophomore Kieran Templeton (Glens Falls, N.Y.) was 13th in the event with a toss of 36.21 meters for the seventh-best throw in program history. Senior Griffen Copp (Littleton, Mass.) placed 17th in the discus throw to top the Lyons with a distance of 36.65 meters. First year Nick Barbee (Manchester, N.H.) led Wheaton in the shot put with a heave of 11.28 meters to finish with the 10th-best mark in school history and 16th in the meet. Smith finished ninth in the high jump with a personal-record height of 1.78 meters and first year Elijah Pinney (Brockton, Mass.) was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.81 meters. Senior GJ Mualis (Taunton, Mass.) was right behind him with a distance of 5.66 meters to place eighth.
First year Nolan Bushnell (Rochester, Mass.) clocked in at 1:58.78 to finish 11th in the 800 meters, while classmate Will Doyle (Milton, Mass.) was the Lyons' top finisher in the 5000 meters with a personal-record time of 16:40.35 to place 12th.
Wheaton returns to the track on Friday, April 24 when it travels to New London, Conn. to compete in the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference meet, hosted by United States Coast Guard Academy.
