CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The 800-yard relay placed second to fuel the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's swimming & diving team, which sits in second place following the first day of the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championship hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool in Cambridge, Mass.
The Lyons tallied 58 points for the night, while host MIT holds first place with 70 points.
Wheaton's relay comprised of seniors Garin Stone (Barrington, R.I.), Talia Dalton (Andover, Minn.), Emma Claire Lambert-Shemo (Cleveland, Ohio) and Vivian Van Holland Excelsior, Minn.) turned in a season-best time of 7:36.60 to qualify for an NCAA B-cut. MIT took the top spot with a mark of 7:28.51 behind sophomores Belise Swartwood (Honolulu, Hawaii), Mary Feliz (Millersville, Md.), Lillian Poag (Houston, Texas) and Jessica Crane (Katonah, N.Y.).
The Lyons' second relay squad of junior Anna St. Jean (Alexandria, Va.), first year Lauren Bullins (Lenexa, Kan.), first year Ella Werbecki (Scituate, R.I.) and junior Kaleigh Morton (Milford, Conn.) also scored for Wheaton with a time of 8:03.99 to place 13th.
The Lyons return to the pool tomorrow for the preliminaries in Cambridge at 10:00 a.m.
