SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Wheaton College (Mass.) senior Nick Lacroix (Bedford, N.H.) placed 35th overall and second among NCAA Division III runners to lead the men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish this morning at the Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational hosted by Bryant University on its campus in Smithfield, R.I.
The Lyons tallied 173 points to finish sixth as a team in the five-kilometer race, while Stonehill University scored 17 points, bolstered by the first, second, third, fifth and sixth-place runners. Stonehill junior Dylan Brilliant (Plymouth, Mass.) was the race's top finisher with a time of 15:29.30.
Lacroix posted a time of 17:11.50 for Wheaton, while sophomore Dan McIntyre (Keene, N.H.) clipped his previous best time by 1.6 seconds to place 46th overall and seventh among DIII runners with a mark of 18:00.40. Classmate Finn Morris (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was steps behind at 18:06.30 to finish 47th. First year Thomas Sargent (Bow, N.H.) placed 50th overall with a mark of 18:24.00, while senior Parker Fullem (Wantage, N.J.) turned in a time of 18:41.10 to finish 56th and round out the scoring for the Lyons.
Wheaton senior Lucas MacKenzie (Saint Albans, Vt.) placed 58th with a time of 18:50.80 and first year Will Doyle (Milton, Mass.) was right on his heels at 18:52.90 to finish 59th. First year Jack Kittredge (Broad Brook, Conn.) came in at 19:18.00 to place 62nd and first year Kayden Chhoun (Wilbraham, Mass.) made his collegiate debut with a time of 19:21.20 to finish 63rd overall.
The Lyons return to action on Saturday, September 20 when they travel to Dartmouth, Mass. to compete in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational at 11:15 a.m.
