ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Senior Kai Hillier (Hinesburg, Vt.) finished 31st to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) men's cross country team to an eighth-place showing at the Suffolk Short Course Classic this morning on the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass.

The Lyons scored 243 points to record the top-10 finish on the five-kilometer course that featured runners from Division I and III schools. 

College of the Holy Cross captured the top three individual spots in the race and totaled a winning team score of 26 points. Senior Liam Lyons (Irvington, N.Y.) won the race by over six seconds with a mark of 15:15.09.

Wheaton saw four of its runners post personal-record times for the day. 

Hillier crossed the finish at 16:30.07, followed by classmate Nick Lacroix (Bedford, N.H.), who registered a personal-record mark of 16:53.92 to shatter his previous best by more than 14 seconds and place 46th. First year Nolan Bushnell (Rochester, Mass.) was the Lyons' top performing newcomer with a time of 17:47.72 to finish 79th in his collegiate debut. Sophomore Dan McIntyre (Keene, N.H.) turned in a personal-record time of 18:01.94 to finish 87th, while classmate Finn Morris (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) fell just short of matching him at 18:05.40, but his effort was also a personal-best and good for 90th place to round out Wheaton's team scorers.

First year Will Doyle (Milton, Mass.) was also in the mix with McIntyre and Finn, clocking in at 18:19.99 in his first college race to finish 96th for the Lyons. First year Thomas Sargent (Bow, N.H.) placed 106th with a time of 18:36.71 in his collegiate debut and senior Parker Fullem (Wantage, N.J.) was steps behind at 18:39.00 to finish one place behind. Classmate Lucas MacKenzie (Saint Albans, Vt.) pushed Fullem behind a personal-record time of 18:43.21 to place 110th. First years Jack Kittredge (Broad Brook, Conn.) and Thomas Deffet (Platte County, Mo.) competed in their first respective collegiate race with Kittredge placing 123rd behind a time of 19:12.41 and Deffet coming in 152nd with a mark of 22:45.54.
