Hanson, Lyon, Tanksley Named to CSC Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Team

NORTON, Mass. — Wheaton College (Mass.) women's volleyball players Hollis Hanson (Parker, Colo.), Sydney Lyon (Weston, Conn.) and Arianna Tanksley (Chesapeake, Va.) were named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Team, it was announced today by the CSC.

The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for consideration of this honor, nominated student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's matches. Liberos, although not counted in stats as a starter, may be counted as such for nominating purposes. A maximum of four nominations from each institution are considered.

The three Wheaton women's volleyball honorees are the first to earn Academic All-District designation since Lauren Kraus '10 in 2009.

Hanson was second on the team in blocks per set with nine solos and 34 assists in 90 sets. The Douglas County High School product appeared in 374 sets in 111 career matches, while spiking for 523 kills with a .194 hitting percentage to go with 211 total blocks to finish just outside the program's top-10 career list.

Lyon is a senior Nutrition major. The outside hitter was one of two Lyons to see action in all 108 sets and was second on the team with 2.94 kills and 3.41 points per frame, while ranking third with 1.88 digs per set. She ranked seventh in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference in kills per set and became just the seventh player in school history to amass 1000 or more career kills. In 391 sets over 108 matches, Lyon also fired 172 career aces to fall just short of the Lyons' career top 10.
