MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Wheaton College (Mass.) women's basketball player Regan Keyter (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week of November 24-30, it was announced today by the league.
Keyter earns the award for the second time in her career. The senior was previously named on November 27, 2023.
In two games, the forward averaged 11.5 rebounds to go with a steal and a block, while averaging 17.0 points on a 41.2% (14-34) shooting percentage. The ThunderRidge High School product began the week with 21 points and 12 rebounds and added an assist, a steal and a blocked shot at Johnson & Wales University (R.I.) on November 25. Keyter capped the week with her second straight double-double and third consecutive game with 11 or more rebounds after scoring 13 points and pulling down 11 boards at Connecticut College on November 30.
For the season, the Biochemistry major ranks fifth in the conference with 9.1 rebounds per game, while standing 15th in shooting percentage with a 36.4% (39-107) mark. Keyter is netting 12.9 points per outing and is averaging 16.0 points per game over her last five contests. The Colorado native has started all seven games and has posted four double-digit rebounding efforts. She scored a career-high 23 points on 9-15 shooting against Framingham State University on November 18.
Keyter currently has 782 career points for an average of 9.8 per game over her career, while starting 72 of 80 games that she's appeared in. She has 424 rebounds for the Lyons and has averaged 5.3 caroms per game in her tenure in Norton, while owning a 42% (39-107) field goal percentage and a 67.9% (106-156) success rate at the line. Her 85 career blocks place her in a tie for fourth on Wheaton's career list.
The Lyons return to action on Wednesday, December 3 when they travel to Weston, Mass. to take on Regis College for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
