Wheaton dominated play with a 26-11 shot count and owned a 12-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Wheaton netted three goals in each half with Mount Holyoke's only score coming in the second half.
Recht helped the Lyons establish the tone right away with two of the team's three goals in the first 25 minutes of the contest to give her seven points in her last two games.
The senior's first marker came just 7:13 into the match as Recht intercepted a Mount Holyoke pass 20 yards away from the goal and quickly blasted a shot over MHC goalie and in. Senior midfielder Claire Donfield (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) gave Wheaton a 2-0 lead just over three minutes later with her second tally of the year coming in the 11th minute of play. She scored from close to the same spot as Recht's goal. Donfield was able to catch up to the ball near the right top corner of the penalty area, turn and line up a shot that sailed over the keeper's head before settling into the left netting. Recht's second score came in the 26th minute when she converted a penalty kick to give the visitors a 3-0 lead.
Wheaton held a 15-4 shot margin at the intermission and led the match, 3-0.
First year forward Kate Wickenheisser (Oxford, Conn.) kept the pressure on for Wheaton, scoring her team-high fifth goal of the year in the 51st minute to give the Lyons a 4-0 cushion. After a free kick from first year defender Mia Wolfgang (Holliston, Mass.) into the box, a Mount Holyoke defender got a foot on a loose ball that presented Wickenheisser with an unobstructed view of the goal, which she took advantage of with a high shot under the crossbar and in.
Mount Holyoke cracked the scoring column when first year forward Ada Siepmann (Vlotho, Germany) found the back of the net for the MHC Lyons in the 68th minute to cut the deficit to 4-1. Centering Mount Holyoke's defensive line from near midfield, first year Anna Kennedy (Glendale, Wis.) sent a high ball toward the Wheaton goal, where Siepmann caught up to it and volleyed the ball past advancing Wheaton keeper for her first career goal.
Wheaton added a pair of insurance goals in the final four minutes of play in a span of 104 seconds. Junior midfielder Makenzie Paulo (West Springfield, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season with 3:40 to go in the match when the MHC keeper deflected but didn't control a Wheaton cross from the right side, and Paulo ran on to the loose ball and buried a hard shot into the goal to make it 5-1. Sophomore forward Lily Brown (Warwick, R.I.) notched her third marker of the year with just 1:56 showing on the scoreboard to give Wheaton six goals for the afternoon. Brown tracked down a long entry ball from Wolfgang and poked the ball past the keeper.
Junior keeper Gabby Marcus (Austin, Texas) recorded four saves for Wheaton, while first year goalie Clarissa Govea (Pico Rivera, Calif.) made 11 stops for Mount Holyoke.
Wheaton returns to play on Wednesday, October 12 when it hosts NEWMAC foe Emerson College at Mirrione Stadium for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff. MHC will travel to Worcester, Mass. on the same day to take on league rival Clark University at 7:00 p.m.
