Box Score BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophomore forward Alasdair Ferrier (Concord, N.H.) scored the game-tying marker in a 1-1 tie with host Emerson College this afternoon in New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference play at Rotch Field in Boston, Mass.
The Lyons are now 4-3-4 overall and 0-1-2 in league play and have recorded three straight draws for the first time in school history. The Lions stand at 5-1-4 and 1-1-1.
Wheaton held margins of 13-9 in shots and 5-2 in corner kicks for the match.
Ferrier tallied his league-leading seventh goal of the season in the 26th minute of play to give the Lyons a 1-0 edge. The forward collected a rebound that ricocheted off the Emerson keeper's hands and back into a crowded box in front of the net, where Ferrier deposited the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
The Lions matched the goal in the 62nd minute to knot the game at 1-1. Despite being surrounded by Wheaton defenders, junior midfielder Ben Deeming (Annandale, N.J.) found junior forward Thomas Chuaqui (El Cerrito, Calif.) making his way towards the goal. Chuaqui collected the pass and beat the Lyons keeper to his left with a ground shot.
Emerson looked to pull out the win with just seconds remaining in the contest when senior defender Bo Feekins (Kyiv, Ukraine) put a header within the right post, but the would-be-goal was called denied by an offsides call.
Senior goalie Cam Millington (Fairfield, Conn.) turned back six shots for Wheaton, while Ethan Fitzsimmons (Harvard, Mass.) made six saves for the Lions as well.
The Lyons return to play on Saturday, October 8 when they travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on NEWMAC rival Springfield College at 3:00 p.m., while Emerson hosts Westfield State University on October 4 at 6:00 p.m.
