Troy gave the Lyons the lead twice during the night, putting Wheaton on the board early in the contest with her first tally of the season coming in the fifth minute of play, before striking again in the 50th minute of action to give the Lyons a 2-1 edge. Senior defender Amanda Dunton (Huntington Beach, Calif.) assisted on Troy's first goal on a corner kick and first year midfielder Kilee Sherry (Gorham, Maine) notched her first career point with an assist on Troy's second score. Rattenni padded the margin for the Lyons with her first marker of the year less than two minutes later on a feed from first year Aryana Anthony (Plaistow, N.H.). Anthony's first collegiate point made her one of seven Wheaton players to record at least one point in the match. Rattenni combined with junior midfielder Nicolette Scinicariello (Douglas, Mass.) to find junior forward Claire Donfield (Berkeley Heights, N.J.), just 47 seconds later, for her first goal of the year and Wheaton's fourth of the night to secure the 4-1 victory.
Junior midfielder Hailey Skowronski (Douglas, Mass.) found the back of the net for Worcester State to knot the contest at 1-1 in the 42nd minute of the opening half. Wheaton's defense dominated the remainder of play, keeping its hosts off the board for the final 48-plus minutes of action. The Lyons held the Lancers to just six shots, while the Wheaton offense fired 18 shots in the match and held a 10-1 advantage on corner kicks.
