Norton, Mass. - April 24, 2021 - Wheaton College women’s tennis came up short against Babson College on Saturday afternoon in their New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup, falling to the beavers by a score of 6-3. Babson women’s tennis improved to 2-0, while Wheaton falls to 0-3.
Babson won the doubles matches 2-1, with the lone victory for the lyons coming via default for junior Alexis Acosta (Albuquerque, N.M.) and first-year Mareike Mueller(Amesbury, Mass.)
Wheaton was bested in the singles matches, 4-2, with their victories coming from seniors Jordyn Paul (Belchertown, Mass.) and Lizzy Michaud (Lewiston, Maine). Paul battled in her singles match to pick up a victory in the third set, with victories of 6-4 and 6-1. Michaud earned her victory by default.
Wheaton will return to action on Saturday, May 1 for a rematch at Clark University in another NEWMAC contest. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
