Box Score Norton, Mass.- April 17, 2021- The Wheaton College women's lacrosse team lost to United States Coast Guard Academy, 15-12, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday afternoon at Diane C. Nordin Field in Norton, Mass.
The Lyons were led by seniors Emma Ford (York, Maine), Danielle Trudeau (West Springfield, Mass.) and sophomore Jessie Kilburn (North Branford, Conn.) who all had hat tricks in today's match. Senior Casey Kaplan (Suffield, Conn.), sophomore Brooke Harvey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and first year Avonlea LeBeau (North Branford, Conn.) all had one apiece for the Lyons.
Goalies Emily Oundjian (Longmeadow, Mass.), Emily Kelly (Norwell, Mass.) and Jena Casman (Woodbridge, Conn.) saw time in the net today. Sophomores Oundjian and Kelly each recorded one save and senior Casman made three saves after seeing seven shots.
The game was off to a fiery start with both teams adding goals early into the game. In the first half, Wheaton took an early lead when they found the back of the net four times in a row. In the second half, the USCGA Bears came out hot scoring six goals before the Lyons were able to go on a scoring streak but it wouldn't be enough to out score Coast Guard.
Wheaton will return to action on Saturday, April 24th when the Lyons travel to Springfield College for the NEWMAC semifinals. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
