Box Score Norton, Mass.- April 10, 2021- The Wheaton College women's lacrosse team fell to Babson College,16-10, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field in Wellesley, Mass.
The Lyons were led by sophomore Jessie Kilburn (North Branford, Conn.) who had five goals and one assist. Seniors Emma Ford (York, Maine), Casey Kaplan (Suffield, Conn.) and Danielle Trudeau (West Springfield, Mass.) all netted one for the Lyons. Sophomore Darien Webb (Hamden, Conn.) and first year Avonlea LeBeau (North Branford, Conn.) also scored one a piece in today's match.
Goalies Jena Casman (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Emily Oundjian (Longmeadow, Mass.) saw time in the net today. Senior Casman made five saves after seeing 16 shots while sophomore Oundjian made three saves after seeing eight shots.
Babson scored the first six goals of the contest before Trudeau found the back of the net for the Lyons. In the second half, the Lyons opened up to a fiery start scoring the first four goals of the half but it wouldn't be enough to hold off The Beavers.
The Beavers outshot Wheaton 29-26 but both teams had an equal amount of 17 ground balls. The Lyons were able to take more draw controls as they out scored them 15-13.
Wheaton will return to action on Saturday, April 17th at home when the Lyons take on Coast Guard Academy in another NEWMAC battle. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
