THE RUNDOWN:
- The Wheaton College women's tennis team opened the 2020 half of its season Friday afternoon in Maine against Bates College. The Bobcats, who are ranked 27th in the nation, defeated the visiting Lyons 8-1.
- Wheaton's lone point came from No. 1 doubles with senior Isabelle Garvanne and sophomore Miriam Galindo Cerrada. The pair collected an 8-4 win.
- Garvanne put up a fight in No. 1 singles, taking Joanna Atwater to three sets, after defeating the Bobcat 6-4 in the opening set. Atwater was able to respond and do just enough to take the following two sets.
UP NEXT: Wheaton returns to action on Tuesday, March 10 in California for their spring break matches. The Lyons start the week against Saint Katherine.
