Men's Basketball Falls to WPI in NEWMAC Quarterfinals

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Wheaton was led by seniors Ryan Fogarty and Liam Bruno. Fogarty paced the Lyons with a 21-point performance, shooting 7-10 in the paint and 3-4 from behind the arc while Bruno provided 20 points, picking up seven boards and dishing off two assists. 
  • Junior Duaka Ekwensi scored 17 points shooting 7-10 from the floor and 2-2 from three. 
  • Aaron Todd led WPI with 21 points, five rebounds, and two assists, while Jake Wisniewski contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds. Reid Walker and Chris Rodgers each recorded 12 points. 
  • Both teams traded baskets early in the game, breaking even at 11-11 with 14:48 left. The Engineers were able to pull away near the end of the first half and continued their momentum into the second. Despite their efforts, the Lyons were unable to catch The Engineers who finished the game ahead at 95-76. 
  • The loss snaps the Lyons four-game win streak. 
  • WPI advances to its 15th consecutive NEWMAC Semifinal where they will take on top-seeded Springfield.
