NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College women's tennis team opened the 2016 season with a home conference match against the Mount Holyoke College Lyons, but fell 7-2.
The Lyons notched one victory in doubles to kick off the match in the No. 1 spot when sophomore Ines de Bracamonte and first-year Isabelle Garvanne defeated Ayame Yazawa and Ching-Ching Huang, 8-6.
In singles, Mount Holyoke opened the set with three straight wins before sophomore Connor O'Keefe clinched the 7-6, 7-3, 6-4 victory in the No.4 spot. Mount Holyoke went on to claim the final two sets for the 7-2 win.
The Lyons host Springfield College on Saturday, Sept. 10 in another conference match slated to begin at 1 p.m.
