BOSTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College women's lacrosse team fell, 11-10, against the Emerson College Lions in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup on Wednesday evening. 

Wheaton falls to 6-7 on the season and 3-2 in NEWMAC play as Emerson advances to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in conference.

Emerson started action during the first half of the game when they scored a goal at 28:38. Wheaton followed with a goal of their own less than a minute later with a shot from Brooke Sabol to tie it up during a free position. Emerson would tally two more goals before Sabol made her way back to the net to get the Lyons back on the board when she netted a her second goal at 22:32. Both teams closed out the first half with five goals to enter halftime tied.

The second half began to mirror the first when Emerson pushed in another goal to take control of the lead, but Katie Peters put Wheaton right back in play when she scored her first goal of the game at 24:13. It would quickly become a back and forth battle of each team's offense as Emerson and Wheaton each registered goals on the board. 

The Lyons knocked in three straight goals within five minutes during the half from Sabol, Peters and Jenna Tewksbury, giving Sabol a hat trick. But those goals wouldn't be enough as Emerson came back with three of their own to seal the 11-10 victory.

Wheaton brings the action back home on Saturday to battle Springfield College with game time slated for 1 p.m.
