Women's Tennis Clipped in Close Match at Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Wheaton College women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision in a close match at Colby-Sawyer on Sunday.

Colby-Sawyer opened the match with a sweep in doubles action.

In singles action, the Lyons tried to gain control of the momentum as first-year Ines de Bracamonte secured a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the No. 1 spot to get things going. Senior Caroline DiNicola-Fawley went on to earn a 6-4, 2-6, 10-3 win over Colby-Sawyer in the No. 4 spot as junior Michelle Trainor won at No. 5 at 6-1, 6-0 and first-year Connor O'Keefe notched her 8-5 victory in the No. 6 spot, but that wouldn't be enough as Colby-Sawyer would hang on for the 5-4 match win.

The Lyons close out the 2015-16 season on Friday as they host Holy Cross at the Clark Tennis Courts.
