BEVERLY, Mass. - The Wheaton College women's lacrosse team defeated host Endicott College 13-7 Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium. 

The win moves the Lyons to a perfect 2-0 on the season, while the Gulls fall to 0-2. 

The Lyons raced to a quick lead, starting with a goal by sophomore Katie Peters, who ended her day with a hat trick. Wheaton took a 3-0 lead moments later courtesy of two free position goals from senior Jenna Tewksbury. 

Endicott got on the board with a goal from freshman Jaime Balboni with 20:36 remaining in the first half. Maddy Lahm and Katherine Kowal made it a 5-1 game for Wheaton moments later with unassisted goals two minutes apart. Allie Bush netted the first of her two goals of the day with 13:55 on the clock. 

The Gulls pulled within two goals with a little over 10 minutes remaining after receiving goals from Emiliy Whitney and Balboni. Sophomore Megan Hemmerlein responded with yet another unassisted Wheaton goal.

Brooke Sabol got in on the scoring toward the end of the half with the help of Angela Mallis. Peters ended the half with her second goal of the contest. 

Whitney opened the scoring in the second half with a goal for the Gulls one minute in. Sabol responded for Wheaton, which was quickly countered by a goal from Molly McMahon of Endicott. 

The Lyons would close out the game with three goals to earn the 13-7 win. Peters led the way with her third goal of the game at the 18:00 mark, while Hannah Gasperoni found net with a Mallis assist (7:47). Bush picked up her second goal of the game a minute after the Gasperoni goal with an assist coming from Lahm. 

Molly Witten registered four saves as she faced 11 shots on goal, earning her second win of the season. 

Wheaton returns to action on Sunday, March 6 at 1 p.m. at Nordin Field, where the Lyons will open home play against Trinity (Conn.).
