NORTON, Mass. - First-year Isabelle Garvanne notched the only win for the Wheaton College women's tennis team on Tuesday as the Babson College Beavers defeated the Lyons, 8-2, at the Clark Tennis Courts in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
Garvanne earned her lone victory during the singles competition where she defeated Babson's Dina Weick, 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot. Sophomore Ines de Bracamonte dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision to Tatiana Ramirez in No. 1 as the Beavers went on to claim the remaining singles matches.
In doubles, Babson claimed an 8-1 mark in the No. 1 spot, 8-1 final at No. 2 and 8-4 decision at No. 3 to help seal the 8-1 match victory.
The Lyons host Endicott College on Wednesday for a non-conference match slated to kick off at 4 p.m. at the Clark Tennis Courts.
