Box Score

BABSPN PARK, Mass. - A second half goal lifted Babson College over the Wheaton College women's soccer team Tuesday afternoon in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

The Lyons slip to 12-7 overall and 4-5 in NEWMAC action, while the Beavers finish the regular season 9-5-3 overall and 6-3-1 in conference play.

Wheaton goalkeeper Leann Wolf came up with four saves, while the Beavers Maddison Gierschick made six saves for the home team.

Wolf was able to keep Babson off the board in the first half, despite the Beavers best chances, which included a shot from Victoria Penta that forced a diving save from the Lyon keeper.

Babson broke through with the games only goal just 10 minutes into the second half. The goal came on a pass from the right side that was one touched past Wolf.

Kaylee Sye nearly netted her second goal of the season in the 54th minute, forcing Gierschick to come up with a diving save of her own. Captain Megan Healy tried her best to put knot the game up in the 82nd minute, sending a perfectly placed thru ball to Noelle Perciballi just to have Gierschick come up with another of her six saves.

Wheaton held a slim 6-5 advantage in shots, while getting off the games only corner kicks.

The Lyons return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29 for a 2 p.m. home game against Smith College in the final regular season game of the season.
