CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Wheaton College women's tennis team dropped, 9-0, on Saturday against the MIT Engineers in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
The Lyons opened action in doubles competition where sophomore Ines de Bracamonte and first-year Isabelle Garvanne fell, 8-5, in the No. 1 spot. First-year Harley Swainston and junior Jodi Katz competed in the No. 2 spot, falling 8-1 and junior Arielle Klopsis and sophomore Connor O'Keefe dropped a 8-0 decision in the No. 3 spot.
MIT maintained momentum in the match entering into singles competition as the Engineers swept the Lyons through all six spots including a 6-2, 6-0 mark at No. 1, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 and a 6-1, 6-1 final at No. 3.
The Lyons compete again on Tuesday as they host NEWMAC competitor Babson College with match time set to begin at 4 p.m. at the Clark Tennis Courts.
