NORTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College women's swimming & diving team hosted Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Wednesday. The Lyons walked away with a 453-106 victory over Dartmouth, but fell 332-249 against WPI.
Relay team Skyler Dean-Lee, Courtney Leach, Rowan Rice and Kelsey Meyer kicked off the meet with the 200-yard medley relay where they placed second by clocking in at 1:56.45. Kelley Baylis, Tayla Slater, Helen Grant and Kathryn Cole followed up by finishing third for Wheaton with a final of 1:58.10.
Dean-Lee went on to finish first in the 100-yard backstroke when she tapped in at 1:03.29. She also later went on to get first-place during the 200-yard backstroke at 2:17.56. Meyer also tallied her own first-place spot in the 50-yard freestyle with the top time of 26.14.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Jenna Hayden battled it out to collect a first place position with a top time of 56.33, narrowly beating out WPI's second-place time of 56.73. She went on to place second in the 100-yard butterfly with a final time of 1:02.63.
Rice pushed the momentum for Wheaton in the 200-yard breaststroke when she clocked in at 2:35.65 for a first-place spot. Later on in the meet, she also tabbed a first-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley by tapping in at 2:21.40.
Katherine Conway led the scoring for Wheaton in diving with a 216.15 final mark for second-place in the one-meter dive. She went on to place second in the three-meter dive with a final of 229.13. Tori Popstein wrapped up the one-meter dive with a 182.63 mark and later a 194.55 score in the three-meter dive, both for fourth-place.
The Lyons wrapped up the meet with the 200-yard freestyle relay. Relay team Rebecca Idman, Meyer, Leach and Hayden finished strong with a first-place time of 1:43.09.
Wheaton travels to Tufts University on Saturday with action slated to begin at 1 p.m.
