Bullins Named NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Wheaton College (Mass.) women's swimmer Lauren Bullins (Lenexa, Kan.) was named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week for the week of October 26 to November 1, it was announced today by the NEWMAC.

The award marks the second week in a row that a Lyon has been named the conference's top women's swimmer after senior Anna St. Jean (Alexandria, Va.) was tabbed last week. Its the first time the Blue and White have had multiple competitors earn Swimmer of the Week accolades in the same season since the 2023-24 campaign when Katie Walz '25 was selected twice and Reese Hartmann was chosen once. Wheaton has been recognized four times this season, including sophomore Ella Kent (Framingham, Mass.), who was the Diver of the Week selection last week, and Bullins, St. Jean, first year Lauren Holmes (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore Amani Sodhi (Farmingdale, N.Y.) as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay for the Relay of the Week seven days ago.

Bullins posted the fastest times in five different individual races for Wheaton. The sophomore began the week by winning both distance races for the Lyons, including the 1000-yard freestyle by nearly eight seconds at host Wellesley College on October 30 with a time of 11:17.16. The Business & Management and Economics double major dominated the 500-yard freestyle against the Blue by more than eight seconds with a mark of 5:26.73. A graduate of Olathe North High School, Bullins swam the fastest time in three races with three different strokes less than 24 hours later against visiting Bridgewater State University. She won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.97, before touching the wall first in the 200-yard butterfly to easily win the event with a mark of 2:30.38. Bullins closed out her individual efforts by posting the fastest time in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:39.18 clip.

For the season, Bullins has officially won five races, while turning in seven top two-times. She has been outstanding in the freestyle with a pair of wins in the 500-yard freestyle and triumphs in the 1000 and 200-yard freestyle events.

The second-year swimmer has been extremely versatile for Wheaton with 23 top-five finishes spanning freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke, including a pair of wins in the 1000-yard freestyle, two in the 500 freestyle, and one each in the 100 and 200 freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly.

The Lyons return to the pool on Saturday, November 7 when they host Springfield College and United States Coast Guard Academy for a double-dual meet at 11:00 a.m. at Balfour Natatorium.
