SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Wheaton College women's basketball team clinched their third conference win Tuesday night as they defeated the Mount Holyoke College Lyons, 66-36, at Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium.

Wheaton advances to 10-4 overall on the season as senior Kiley Shoemaker registered a game-high 16 points. Shoemaker ended the night shooting 7-7 from the field with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks.

Junior Sophie Black secured a game-best 10 rebounds as sophomore Oppie Morris collected eight points on the night with five rebounds, two assists and three steals. Senior Alyssa Almario, first-year Abby Hamilton and sophomore Rebecca Olivieri also tallied eight points in the game to help maintain Wheaton's lead.

Action shifted back and forth at the start of the game, but Wheaton pushed ahead in the first quarter off a layup from Shoemaker that gave the Lyons the lead. Mount Holyoke tried to lessen the gap to a nine-point game with a few minutes in the second quarter, but it wasn't enough as Wheaton pulled back the momentum.

In the second half, Wheaton pushed up to a 19-point lead with six minutes left thanks to a three-pointer from Olivieri. Morris and Maria Matrango then swept in a few more baskets during the fourth quarter to seal the victory for Wheaton.

The Lyons travel to MIT on Thursday to continue conference play with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
