NORTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College men's swimming & diving team battled it out against New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) team Clark University on Tuesday. The Lyons walked away with the 160-77 victory at Balfour Natatorium.
Wheaton's relay teams took the top two spots in the 200-yard medley relay with Noah Kern, Todd Lambert, Kevin Silva and Jerard Fredette in first at 1:44.76 and Chris Steward, Jeremy Zak, Raymond Bortolot and David Bowen in second at 1:47.62.
Mackenzie DeWitt kept things rolling for the Lyons in the 1,000-freestyle by placing second with a final time of 11:03.37. Lambert and Timmer Sposato went on to place first and second in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:52.74 and 1:53.45.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Frederick Garneau placed first at 22.60 with Bortolot (third), Kern (fourth) and Daniel Spencer (fifth) right behind him. Jonathan Dunnett took his own first place in the 200-yard individual medley, tapping in at 2:02.12 with Zak creeping in after him for second place at 2:10.38.
Lambert and Sposato didn't let up for Wheaton during the 100-yard freestyle by claiming first and third place at 50.34 and 51.63. Later on, Kern and Steward took first and second in the 100-yard backstroke at 56.76 and 1.00.63.
The Lyons wrapped up the meet strong by placing first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Fredette, Spencer, Dunnett and Garneau clocked in at 1:30.89.
Richard Davies topped the action for the Lyons in diving by placing first in the three and one meter dives. Davies scored 230.25 in the three-meter and 241.95 in the one meter.
