BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Senior Julia Cipriano scored the games only goal as the Wheaton College women's soccer team took down host Bridgewater State 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Lyons improve to 2-0 on the season, while Bridgewater State falls to 0-2.

Despite scoring just one goal, the Wheaton offense had plenty of opportunities, outshooting Bridgewater State 21-7 and having a 4-1 corner kick advantage. First-year goalkeeper Leann Wolf, who picked up her second win of the season, was forced to make just three saves for the Lyons.

Wheaton had a couple of good looks in first half, forcing the Bear keeper to make three saves. The teams best chance came in the opening minute, when Cipriano forced Lauren DeSousa to make a leaping save to stop the ball from sneaking in under the crossbar.

The Lyons wasted no time getting the second half started, forcing another diving save from the Bear keeper in the opening minutes. Wheaton finally got on the board in the 79th minute with Cipriano netting her second goal of the season. First-year defender Kaylee Sye set up the play out of the midfield, sending the ball long to Carina Thomas on the right side of the field. Thomas then passed the ball into the six-yard box where it found Cipriano's foot. The senior shot the ball back across frame slotting it inside the right post.

Wheaton returns home for its next contest, hosing Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. at Mirrione Stadium.
