Box Score NORTON, Mass. – With a tough first half, the Wheaton College women's soccer team couldn't collect a win on Sunday as they fell, 3-0, against the No.17 ranked Amherst College Purple & White.
The Lyons (6-3, 0-1 NEWMAC) had to fully utilize their defense from the very beginning as Amherst put up shots in the first few minutes.
In the seventh minute, Amherst (5-1) got their break through with the first goal of the game.
Wheaton couldn't get lucky with any of the shots they attempted from Julia Cipriano, Katie Clay-McBee and Julie Beyar.
Amherst grabbed the momentum again as they made their way through the first half with two more goals in the 27th and 30th minute, getting ahead of Wheaton 3-0.
In the second half, Cipriano and Megan Healy tried to get on the board with shots, but came up empty.
Aunyes Hermantin offered the last shot attempt for Wheaton in the final two minutes of the game.
Goalkeeper Leann Wolf (6-3) made three saves.
The Lyons bring the action back home on Wednesday at Mirrione Stadium as they take on Trinity (Conn.) at 4 p.m.
