Women's Soccer Triumphs over Colby-Sawyer

Box Score

NORTON, Mass. – The No. 25 ranked Wheaton College women's soccer team bounced back to defeat the Colby-Sawyer College Chargers, 2-0, on Tuesday after coming off their first loss of the season last week. The Lyons move to 6-1 overall.

Wheaton held all control in the first half, punching in shots one after another from Julia Cipriano, Megan Healy, Taylor Wilson, Julie Beyar, and Kaylee Sye. It was Cipriano who finally pushed one through for a goal in the 27th minute to get on the board 1-0. She was assisted by Sarah Buckley.

Colby-Sawyer (2-2-2) struggled to gain possession on their side as the Chargers only offered two shots.

In the second half, the Lyons came out strong again, keeping momentum the majority of the time. The Chargers put forth a couple more shots, but came up empty.

Aunyes Hermantin found her way and put a perfectly placed shot in the back left side of the net to move the score up 2-0. She was assisted by Wilson.

Goalkeeper Leann Wolf (6-1) got the win, collecting three saves.

Wheaton outshot Colby-Sawyer 30-7.

The Lyons host WPI in a conference matchup on Saturday with game time scheduled for 12 p.m.
