BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Senior Billy Battaglia finished with a game-high 28 points on Saturday afternoon in the Wheaton College men's basketball teams 73-66 loss at Bridgewater State in the Tiinsley Center. The 28 points was enough to put Battaglia in Wheaton's 1,000 point club. 

The loss drops the Lyons to 5-3 on the season, while the Bears improve to 3-5 overall. 

Battaglia finished 10-26 from the floor, while hitting all six of his free-throw attempts. Both Ryan Fogarty and Riley Tetreault ended the contest with eight points for Wheaton, while Timothy Berry knocked down seven points. Liam Bruno and Berry led the Lyons with six rebounds each, while Matt Allegrezza pulled down five. 

Fawaz Mass scored a team-high 26 points for the Bears, while sophomore Joseph Carty notched a double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds. 

Bridgewater State wasted no time getting the contest started, using a 13-0 run during a five-minute stretch to open up a double-figure advantage. Trailing 28-16, the Lyons outscored the Bears 13-3 to close out the half, making it a 31-29 game as the two sides headed to the locker room. 

Wheaton captured its first lead since the opening minutes with 15:40 remaining on a Battaglia layup. The Bears responded with an 8-0 run over the next four minutes to jump ahead to a 48-40 lead. 

The two sides battled back and forth the rest of the way, but the Lyons were never able to make up the deficit, allowing the Bears to walk away with the 73-66 victory. 

The Lyons return to the court on Saturday, Dec. 12 at home for a non-conference match-up against Pine Manor in the Emerson Gymnasium.
